Miradore activates the item as soon as all necessary information is collected. Missing data can also be added manually; in this case asset configuration item will be set to active status automatically after required data is saved. See Asset auto-generation for more information.

Asset information update and confirmation process is used to validate asset information on a regular basis by requesting the responsible person of asset to check and confirm the information of the asset(s) that have been assigned to his/her responsibility. The asset's responsible person can validate the asset information with the help of Self service portal or email that is sent to him when asset data confirmation is requested.

With the help of Self service portal, device users can request update to information concerning assets that have been assigned to their responsibility. The users are able to request the following types of asset data updates:

  • Data change request allows user to report incorrect information related to assets that have been assigned to his responsibility. If user notices that some information field contains incorrect information, he is able to edit the field and enter a new value for it.

  • Device not found request allows user to report that the asset is no more on his responsibility because it has been relocated, or the device is missing.

  • Ready for return request allows user to announce that the device is no more needed and it is ready to be returned.

Asset data update requests view lists all asset data update requests that the users have sent with the help of Self service portal.

Asset data mismatch view lists all asset attributes that contain mismatching information between the asset configuration item and inventory reports. The mismatches are also highlighted on the Asset configuration item form.

Asset confirmation requests, asset data update requests and asset data mismatches are shown on the Asset configuration item form as red highlights of the corresponding attribute. Maintenance window

This field can be used to assign patch maintenance window(s) to the asset configuration item. You can see the schedule of the selected maintenance window by hovering over the selected maintenance window in the field.

Maintenance windows presented with strikethrough formatting are disabled in Miradore. Disabled maintenance windows don't have any effect on patch management processes.

Notice that you can also assign maintenance windows to asset groups by using the maintenance window setting at the asset group item page.

The maintenance windows are used in security patch management process to define time slots (schedules) when Miradore clients can perform security patch installations at the managed computers without negatively affecting to the productivity of device users.

Maintenance windows can be managed in "Administration > Feature settings > Patch management > Maintenance windows view".

Block maintenance window inheritance

This setting can be used to block the inheritance of maintenance windows from asset groups to the asset configuration item. When the check box is checked, the asset configuration items doesn't inherit patch maintenance windows from any asset group.

Reboot options

This settings defines what happens at this specific asset when Miradore installs a security patch that requires a computer restart. This setting can be used to override the reboot options configured at the asset group item page.

  • Inherit or use default: When asset belongs to one asset group, this option means that the asset inherits the reboot option directly from the asset group. If asset belongs to multiple asset groups, then the asset inherits the reboot option from the asset group, which has the most user-friendly reboot option configured (Do nothing is the most user-friendly and Reboot without asking is the least user-friendly option).  See Inheritance of patch management settings for more information.

  • Do nothing: Miradore client doesn't show any messages to the user, and the managed computer is not restarted automatically either.

  • Show simple dialog: Miradore client shows a message to the device user telling that a computer restart is required. In the message window, there are two buttons "Restart now", which reboots the device immediately, and  "Postpone", which postpones the reboot message. The message appears again when patcher runs next time if the computer hasn't been restarted before that. There is no limit for the number of postpones that the device user can make.

  • Show dialog with reboot timer and postpone options: Miradore client shows a message to the user which tells that a computer restart is needed to complete the security patch installation. In the message window, there is countdown timer which reboots the computer automatically after certain time if user doesn't respond to the message. In addition, there are two buttons "Restart now" which restarts the computer immediately and "Postpone" which postpones the restart reminder for the selected time. The message reappears after the selected time has elapsed. The number of available postpones and the duration of the countdown timer can be configured in "Administration > System settings > Patch management".

  • Reboot without asking: The managed computer will be automatically restarted after security patch(es) requiring reboot have been installed.

At the bottom of the field, this field also displays what reboot option is currently effective for this specific asset.
