Custom attributes for assets
Field |
Description |
Miradore administrators can add up to 50 custom attributes to Asset configuration items for storing information that doesn't have appropriate input fields by default. For example, device colour doesn't have a field at the Asset configuration item by default, but using the custom attributes, it is possible to add a field, which allows to enter and save the device colour, or whatever information you need to store. Read Custom attributes for more information.

|
Enabled |
This field defines whether the custom attribute is enabled for use. When this option is unchecked, the custom attribute is disabled and it is not displayed anywhere in the user interface of Miradore Management Suite. |
Name |
This field defines the name that is used for the custom attribute in Report builder and Miradore web service API. The name must be unique, and it can only contain letters A - Z and/or numbers. Name cannot be changed after it has been saved. In addition to that, the system automatically adds an underscore '_' prefix to the name. The purpose of the prefix is to ensure that the custom attributes wouldn't never get confused with the default asset attributes of Miradore Management Suite. |
Display name |
This field defines the name that is used for the custom attribute in the user interface of Miradore Management Suite. The display name must be unique. The custom attributes are listed with their display names at the Asset configuration item page in the "Custom attributes" table, and also in the Assets by name view. In the view, the custom attributes are hidden by default. |
Data type |
This field defines the data type of the custom attribute. The data type cannot be modified after saving the custom attribute.
|
Drop-down list values |
This field is used to define the possible values for a custom attribute whose data type is drop-down list. Use semicolon ; as the delimiter between the values. One choice can be up to 50 characters long. The number of choices is not limited, but there is a limit of 4000 characters in the "Drop-down list values" text box. |
Show in views |
This field defines whether the custom attribute is available as data column in the Assets by name view. When this option is unchecked, the custom attribute is only visible at the Asset configuration item pages, but when this option is checked, the custom attribute is also visible in the Assets by name view. |
Editable in UI |
This field defines whether Miradore users with sufficient user permissions are able to edit the value of the custom attribute at the Asset configuration item pages. Make sure to enable this if you want the Miradore users, with write access to Asset configuration items, to be able to enter information to the custom field. When this option is unchecked, the field value cannot be changed through Asset configuration item page. The value of custom attributes can be always modified through Miradore web service API. This field doesn't have effect on that. |
Show in SSP |
With this field, administrator can define whether or not the custom attribute is shown to the device end-user in the Self service portal. When enabled, the custom attribute is shown in the "Additional information" section of the "Asset information" popup window in the Self service portal. |
Show in Workflow |
With this field, administrator can define whether the custom attribute is included in the page which is sent to the device end-user by email when the end-user is requested to confirm the validity of asset data using the asset information update and confirmation process. With this option enabled, the end-user can also check the correctness of the custom attributes, and suggest changes to the values. |
Show in all assets |
This field defines the asset configuration items where the custom attribute is shown. Show in all assets = Yes means that the custom attribute is visible on every single asset configuration item. Show in all assets = No means that the visibility of the custom attribute has been restricted to certain asset configuration items only. Pay careful attention to the include and exclude rules when you are configuring the assets where the custom attributes should be shown. You should always have the include rules first and then Exclude * as the last rule. If you forget to add the Exclude rule, the custom attribute is shown on every asset. |
