Maintenance window items are used in patch management process to define time slots (schedules) when security patch installations are allowed at managed computers. This way security patch installations can be scheduled to take place outside business hours. If any maintenance window has not been defined, then patch installations are done according to the settings configured with the scheduled task profiles in "Administration > System settings > Clients > General > Built-in scheduled tasks > Windows > Patch scan and install".
Maintenance windows don't have affect to security patch inventory scan interval. Security patch inventory scans are always run according to the settings configured with the scheduled task profiles.
