Monitors are predefined functions that are used to monitor the health and status of Miradore environment and the configuration items within the environment. All events generated by the monitors are listed on the Event queue view of Miradore. There are two types of event monitors in Miradore: event log monitors and configuration item monitors.
The configuration item monitors are configured to follow a certain attribute of a configuration item. The configuration item monitors generate a new event when the attribute achieves a predefined threshold value. Thus, the severity of the generated event depends on the threshold value -settings that have been defined to the monitor item. A typical example of a configuration item monitor is a monitor that tracks the validity period of contract configuration items and generates new events according to the amount of days that are left of the validity period of a contract.
This type of monitors are based on scheduled tasks and the running interval can be seen from the system settings of Miradore (Administration > System settings > System tasks > Alerts > Run scheduled event monitors). By default, this type of monitors are executed daily at 00:05.
The event log monitors are configured to watch certain processes for changes or failures. If the monitor detects a change or failure, it generates a new event. The severity level of the generated event depends on the 'Severity level' -setting of the monitor.
All event monitors are listed in the Monitors view.
The execution of this type of monitors is associated with the related operation e.g. system settings changed. In other words, changing and saving the system settings always creates a new event into Event queue. Therefore, this kind of monitors always work almost in real time.
Monitor descriptions:
Event name |
Description |
Asset attribute modified |
There are multiple monitors that can be set to monitor changes in individual asset configuration item attributes. The monitors are:
These monitors create a new event when the corresponding asset configuration item attribute changes. The severity levels of these types of events can be configured on the Monitor form. |
Asset data mismatch |
This monitor tracks mismatches in asset data that are listed in the Asset data mismatch view in the Miradore management console. The monitor creates a new event when there is a mismatch between asset data and inventory data. The severity level of this type of events can be configured on the Monitor form. |
Asset disk space low (%) |
This monitor tracks the amount of free disk space on the local disks of asset configuration items. The free disk space is compared against the configurable threshold values (in percentages) and a new event is created if the amount of free disk space goes below the defined threshold values. The severity of an event depends on the achieved threshold value level. The threshold values can be configured on the Monitor form. |
Asset data update status changed |
This monitor tracks the status of asset data update requests that are listed in the Asset data update requests view in Miradore management console. The monitor creates a new event always when a status of an asset data update request is changed. The severity level of this type of events can be configured on the Monitor form. |
Asset disk space low (MB) |
This monitor tracks the amount of free disk space on the local disks of asset configuration items. The free disks space is compared against the configurable threshold values (in megabytes) and a new event is created if the amount of free disk space goes below the defined threshold values. The severity of an event depends on the achieved threshold value level. The threshold values can be configured on the Monitor form. |
Asset lease expiring |
This monitor tracks the remaining leasing term of asset configuration items. The remaining leasing period is compared against the configurable threshold values (in days) and a new event is created if the remaining leasing period is less than the defined threshold values. The severity of an event depends on the achieved threshold value level. Notice! The lease contract information is shown on the 'Financial transactions' field on an asset configuration form. The threshold values can be configured on the Monitor form. |
Asset warranty expiring |
This monitor tracks the remaining warranty period of asset configuration items. The remaining warranty period is compared against the configurable threshold values (in days) and a new event is created if the remaining warranty period is less than the defined threshold values. The severity of an event depends on the achieved threshold value level. Notice! The end date of a warranty contract is shown on the 'Warranty end date' field on an asset configuration form. The threshold values can be configured on the Monitor form. |
Connector failed |
This monitor tracks the state of connector items. A new event is generated if the execution of any connector fails. The configurable value of the 'Severity level' field determines the severity level of the generated event. Notice! More information about the connector failures can be found from the system settings of Miradore (Administration > System settings > Connectors > Connectors). The severity level of this type of events can be configured on the Monitor form. |
Contract expiring |
This monitor tracks the remaining contract period of contract items. The remaining contract period is compared against the configurable threshold values (in days) and a new event is generated if the remaining contract period is less than the defined threshold values. The severity of an event depends on the achieved threshold value level. Notice! The end date of a contract is shown on the 'End date' field on a contract item form.. The threshold values can be configured on the Monitor form. |
Incident status changed |
This monitor tracks the status of incident items. A new event of this type is generated when the status attribute of an incident changes or a new incident is created. The configurable value of 'Severity level' field determines the severity level of the generated event. Notice! More information about the incidents is shown on the Incidents view. The severity level of this type of events can be configured on the Monitor form. |
License expiring |
This monitor tracks the license validity period of license transactions. The remaining validity period is compared against the configurable threshold values (in days) and a new event of this type is generated when the remaining validity period is less than the defined threshold values. The severity of an event depends on the achieved threshold value level. Notice! More information about the validity period of license transactions is shown on the License pool form. The severity level of this type of events can be configured on the Monitor form. |
License compliance issue |
The monitor tracks the licence compliance status of such managed software items that are configured to require license (can be configured with the "License needed" field on the Managed software item page). The monitor creates a new event if the amount of installed instances of a licensed managed software exceeds the amount of licenses, purchased for the software. In other words, in this kind of situation, some of the managed software instances are being used without an allocated license. The license compliance of managed software can be analyzed using the License compliance view. The compliance issues can be solved by purchasing more licenses for the overused software. Alternatively, you can evaluate the necessity of the installed instances of a managed software item with the help of software usage measurements that Miradore can be configured to collect from the managed devices. The software usage metering -feature can be enabled/disabled from the main tab of system settings. With the help of software usage measurements, the under-utilized licenses can be identified and reallocated for other instances of the licensed software. The severity level of this type of events can be configured on the Monitor form. |
License maintenance expiring |
This monitor tracks the license maintenance validity period of license transactions. The remaining maintenance validity period is compared against the configurable threshold values (in days) and a new event of this type is generated when the remaining maintenance validity period is less than the defined threshold values. The severity of an event depends on the achieved threshold value level. Notice! More information about the maintenance period of license transactions is shown on the License pool form. The severity level of this type of events can be configured on the Monitor form. |
License pool low (%) |
This monitor tracks the amount of remaining/unused licenses in license pool items. The number remaining licenses in the license pool is compared against the configurable threshold values (in percentages) and a new event of this type is generated when the amount of remaining licenses is less than the defined threshold values. The severity of an event depends on the achieved threshold value level. Notice! More information about unused licenses is shown on the License pools view and License pool form. The threshold values can be configured on the Monitor form. |
Quality index low (%) |
This monitor tracks the level of quality index indicators. A new event of this type is generated when the level of any quality index indicator goes below critical threshold. The threshold levels for quality index indicators can be configured on the system settings of Miradore (Administration > System settings > Main > Quality index). More information about quality index indicators can be seen from quality index settings (Administration > Quality index settings) or About quality index reports. The threshold values can be configured on the Monitor form. |
Scheduled task failed |
This monitor tracks the status of Miradore scheduled tasks. A new event of this type is generated if execution of any scheduled task fails. The configurable value of the 'Severity level' field determines the severity level of the generated event. Scheduled tasks or system tasks are scheduled management tasks running on background of Miradore. See System tasks for more information. The severity level of this type of events can be configured on the Monitor form. |
SIM card changed |
This monitor tracks managed mobile devices and generates an event if device's SIM card is changed. The field "Severity level" defines severity for events that are generated by this monitor. |
System settings changed |
This monitor tracks the state of Miradore system settings. A new event of this type is generated when the settings are changed or saved.
