Initial installation

Initial installation is the method to build a device automatically, including the operating system installation, configurations, software installations and the deployment of software patches.

The table below explains the phasing of an initial installation and the needed preparation steps.

If you want to perform computer preinstallations using other imaging tools, instead of Miradore, check How to add a Miradore Client into a snapshot/image.

BitLocker drive encryption

Miradore Management Suite automatically enables BitLocker drive encryption for managed Windows computers during initial installation according to the settings that have been defined at "System settings > Main > Installations management > Enable Windows BitLocker Drive Encryption".

How to attach packages to configuration items?

Offline Domain Join connector enables to join computers to a Microsoft Active Directory domain without the computers contacting a domain controller during the domain join operation. This means that also computers without access to corporate network can be joined to a domain. For instructions, see Perfoming offline domain join with a system package.

Good to know

During an initial installation of a Windows computer, Miradore copies the contents of the Setup\_System\Miradore\rootCerts.pem file from installation point to the device's operating system certificate store and also creates a copy of that file to the Client's installation directory. Miradore Client can then use the certificate for HTTPS connections with Miradore Server.
