Installing devices without recording the MAC address of a shared network adapter

Network adapter's MAC address is one of the attributes that Miradore Management Suite uses to How Miradore identifies devices. Therefore, it is important not to record the same MAC address for multiple assets in Miradore.

Devices are sometimes incorrectly identified as the same asset if they have been installed using the same external Ethernet adapter or docking station. This happens because Miradore reads the MAC address of the adapter/dock and records it for the assets during the initial installation.

Starting from Miradore Management Suite 5.2.0, there has been an option for blacklisting the MAC addresses of the shared network adapters/docking stations. The addresses, specified in this field, won't be recorded to the asset configuration items.

If you don't wish Miradore to record a MAC address for assets during initial installation, go to the "System settings > Main > Asset management > Automatically generated items > MAC address blacklist", and enter there the MAC address(es) that should not be automatically recorded to asset configuration items.

After this, you can install multiple devices with same adapter without having to remove that device or MAC address in between.
