This page explains system settings for installations management.

The page contains settings for installation points, package deployments, initial installations and group distributions.

The system settings for installations management can be found from 'Administration > System settings > Main > Installations management'.

Installation point authentication

Attribute

Description

Default for HTTP(s)

Sets default credentials for HTTP(s).

Ensure that the user account doesn't have excessive user rights.

It is enough that the user account is allowed to read the contents of the setup folder on the installation point, but it doesn't need to have access permissions to anywhere else.

Default reader for network shares

Sets the default reader account for network shares.

Ensure that the user account doesn't have excessive user rights.

It is enough that the user account is allowed to read the contents of the setup folder on the installation point, but it doesn't need to have access permissions to anywhere else.

Default writer for network shares

Sets the default writer account for network shares.

Ensure that the user account doesn't have excessive user rights.

The user account doesn't need to have access permissions outside the setup folder.

Installation point replication settings

Attribute

Description

Default time frame

This field defines the default value of installation point media replication for all installation points.

Enter the time frame in format "hh - hh". Use full hours to define the time frame.

The default setting can be overwritten by defining an installation point specific time frame to the installation point item form.

Default run interval (h)

This field defines the default value of installation point reporting and replication for all installation points.

Enter here the default interval (in full hours) how often the installation point reporting and replication should be performed for all installation points by default.

The default setting can be overwritten by defining an installation point specific run interval to the installation point item form.

Default maximum concurrent child replications

This field defines the default value of maximum concurrent child replications for all installation points.

Enter here a number that defines how many simultaneous child replications are allowed for all installation points by default.

The default setting can be overwritten by defining an installation point specific value to the installation point item form.

Default maximum bandwidth use for replication

This field defines the default value of maximum bandwidth use for all installation point.

Enter here a number that defines, in kilobytes per second, the maximum allowed bandwidth use for installation point replication. Enter "0" if you wish not to set any limits.

The default setting can be overwritten by defining an installation point specific value to the installation point item form.

Replication history lifetime (days)

This value defines the length of the time period that is shown in the installation point replication history report. The report can be found from the installation point item form.

Exclude date modified comparison

This field defines whether the "Date modified" comparison is left out from the installation point media reporting or not.

If Exclude date modified = Yes, the date modified attribute is not examined when comparing the files at the slave installation point to the files at the media master installation point. In this case, the files are considered to be same if the size and the name of the files are equal.

If Exclude date modified = No, the date modified attribute is examined when comparing the files at the slave installation points to the files at the media master installation point. In this case, the files are considered to be same if the size, the name, and the date modified attributes of the files are equal.

Exclude file rules

This field allows to enter name(s) of the file(s) that should be entirely excluded from file replication between installation points. Use ';' as a separator between multiple files names.

Notice:

Miradore Management Suite automatically excludes some log files and configuration files from file replication.

Exclude folder rules

This field allows to define name(s) of the folder(s) that should be entirely excluded from the file replication between installation points. Use ';' as a separator between multiple files names.

If you want to exclude a specific folder, give the full path from the installation point's root level to the folder, starting with backslash:

\Software\Common\Adobe

You can specify multiple folders by separating them with a semicolon:

\Software\Common\Adobe;\Software\Common\Microsoft

If you want to exclude a specifically named folder under any path on the installation point, leave out the backslash from the beginning:

Linux

You can also define a folder using a part of the full path, like:

OS\Linux

Package deployment settings

Attribute

Description

Package default lifetime (min)

Enter the default package lifetime in minutes.

This field is hidden if installations management feature is disabled from "System settings > Main > Miradore features".

Package distribution timeout (min)

Enter the timeout value for package distributions. If package installation lasts longer than this value, it is interrupted. Note! In case package installation timeout is defined on package configuration item or in group distribution configuration item, this value in system settings will be overridden.

This field is hidden if installations management feature is disabled from "System settings > Main > Miradore features".

This table of settings is hidden is "Installation management" feature is disabled from "System settings > Main > Miradore features".

Group distribution settings

Attribute

Description

Group distribution lifetime notice limit (days)

Shows a notice if group distribution lifetimes exceeds this value.

Enable retries

Determines whether the retry is enabled or not.

This table of settings is hidden is "Installation management" feature is disabled from "System settings > Main > Miradore features".

Initial installation settings

Attribute

Description

Default OS admin password

Default local administrator password after operating system installation.

Default DNS domain

The default DNS domain name to be used

Send email notification when initial installation completed

Select when to send an email notification about the initial installation completion. This can also be configured on the asset configuration page before the initial installation.

Initial installation expiration time (hours)

Initial installation expiration time defines how long the installation process can last after it is started.

Allowed initial installation expiration time (hours)

Allowed initial installation expiration time defines how long the device remains in initial installation allowed mode after activating the initial installation.

PnP driver testing

If PnP driver testing is enabled, all new drivers are initially in ‘testing’ status, and are not used in the initial installation by default.

Initial install without GUI

Allow initial installation without GUI.

System partition sizes

Comma separated list of available system partition sizes. These values are shown in device configuration's system partition size selection list which is used to select device's system partition size created during initial installation.

Windows autologon count

This field defines the number of automatic Windows log-ons using the local administrator account that are performed during the initial installation. The settings is useful for initial installations that require restarting the computer.

Default value: 1. With autologon count set to 1, the local administrator account remains logged on after the initial installation completes, unless, for example, automatic updates restart the computer.

If the autologon count is set to 0, the computer remains in logged off state after initial installation.

It is also possible to configure Miradore Disable autoLogon package as the last action for the initial installation and set the autologon count to a large enough number, e.g. 99. This is especially helpful with packages which require an interactive session during the installation.

Enable Windows BitLocker Drive Encryption

This field defines the scope for BitLocker drive encryption on managed Windows computers during initial installation. The BitLocker drive encryption will be enabled for all computers which are allowed by this scope and which meet the requirements for the use of BitLocker.

If a target computer doesn't have the TPM chip, or the chip is not enabled, or if the target computers operating system doesn't support the use of BitLocker, then drive encryption cannot be enabled during the initial installation. In the Computers - Summary view you can see inventory information related to the TPM chip for managed devices.

In order to define a new scope, enter into edit mode and click "Add..." from the rightmost end of the row.

For more information about the requirements and use of BitLocker drive encryption, please read BitLocker Drive encryption.
