Miradore system packages

There are some built-in packages in Miradore Management Suite -- these are called system packages. Many of the system packages can be attached to the initial installation, and some of them can be used through the Asset configuration item's Custom tools menu. See the below table for a full list of system packages with their detailed descriptions.

Description

Miradore Change Device Name~1

IT departments often have a naming convention for their devices.

This package changes the host name of the target device to match the device naming conventions configured in Miradore Management Suite.

The package is usually used as part of the device self-service enrollment process to rename newly enrolled Windows devices. That can be done with the Device usage items by attaching the package to the group of packages that are installed by default to all assets having the device usage. For more information, please read Attaching packages.

Miradore Create Recovery Partition~1

This package is used at the end of initial installation to create a recovery partition to a computer's hard drive.

It is always recommended to attach this package as the very last package of the initial installation end packages group to ensure that all important configurations and changes to the system can be restored in a case of system failure.

In a disaster situation, the recovery partition can be used to restore the computer to it's original state where it was when the recovery partition was created or last updated.

For more information, please read About Miradore Create Recovery Partition package.

Miradore Disable AutoAdminLogon~1

This package disables the autologon feature for the built-in administrator account in the target computer.

The autologon is used during the initial installation to make the device installation process more convenient. This package is usually attached to the end packages group of initial installation to disable the autologon feature when the autologon is no more needed for the installations.

Miradore Disable Windows Audio~1

This Windows-specific package turns off the target device's audio entirely.

This package is usually attached to the start packages group of initial installation to mute the target devices' system notification sounds etc. during the initial installation.

Miradore Enable Windows Audio~1

This Windows-specific package turns on the target device's audio.

This package is usually attached to the end packages group of initial installation to enable the target devices' audio at the end of  the initial installation.

Miradore Install Latest Patches~1

This Windows-specific package can be only attached to the end packages group of initial installation.

This package tries to patch all software installed on the device up to their latest version. The intention of this is that the device's software would be as thoroughly patched after the initial installation as possible in an automated way.

Do not enable the reboot option for this package, because if any of the patches requires a reboot, the device will be rebooted during the initial installation without asking. Checking the "Reboot" checkbox can cause the package distribution to fail.

Good to know

In Miradore System settings > Main > Patch management > Patch installation settings there is this field Allow doanloading patches from internet during initial installation which determines if the devices are allowed to download patch installation packages during the initial installation directly from the patch vendors through the internet if the patch media is not available on the installation points.

Patch installation media often becomes available to the installation points soon after the patch has been approved for some device in your environment.

If you set the "Allow downloading patches from internet during initial installation = No", Miradore only installs the applicable patches from the installation point to the device, but it doesn't attempt to download the other missing patches from the software vendors. In this case it is possible that part of the device's software will remain unpatched after the initial installation.

If you set the "Allow downloading patches from internet during initial installation = Yes", Miradore first installs the applicable patches from the installation point to the device, and then it downloads the rest of the missing patches from the software vendors over the internet, and installs them to the device. As a result, the device gets patched as thoroughly as possible during the initial installation. However, there can still be patches that don't support automatic downloading and must be installed manually.

This package requires that you have at least one Offline Domain Join connector installed in your managed environment.
