Packages view

About

This view lists all Package items created to Miradore Management Suite. In this view, users in the role of administrator or package builder can create new package items. Users with sufficient permissions can then distribute active packages, for example, by using the package distribution tasks in the Asset configuration item's Tasks menu.

Task

Description

Create new

Creates a new Package item.

Users with the role of administrator or package builder can create new packages.

Edit attributes > Add supported OS

This task can be used to add more supported operating systems for the selected package(s).

Edit attributes > Remove supported OS

This task can be used to remove supported operating systems from the selected package(s).

Change status > Request activation

Newly created packages are in "Under construction" status in Miradore Management Suite.

Only active packages can be distributed to managed assets using Miradore Management Suite.

After a new package has been tested thoroughly, you can use this task to request the activation of the Package.

A notification email will be sent to specified user(s) if Package approval notifications are enabled in "Administration > System settings > Approval process notifications > Package approval request".

Change status > Activate

This task activates the selected package(s).

Only active packages can be distributed to managed assets using Miradore Management Suite.

Users in the role of administrator or package approver have permissions to activate package items.

Before activating new packages, make sure to test them thoroughly.

Change status > Deactivate

In case an activated package needs to be moved back to status "Under construction", choose Deactivate on the package item page.

Change status > Archive

A package can be set to status "Archived" when it is needed no more.  In this status, it cannot be installed anymore, it is only listed in database view to record package history. Before archiving a package check the bindings page to see where the package is being used.

 In case an archived package needs to be activated again, choose "Request activation" or "Activate" through the Package item's Tasks menu.

Change status > Remove

This task removes the selected package item(s) from Miradore Management Suite permanently.

Export

By default, this task exports all the view contents in the selected file format. However, you can use the check boxes in the view to export selected rows only. You can select rows for the export from one page of the view at a time.

The supported file formats for the data export are CSV, Excel, and PDF. In some views, configuration items can be also exported to a group distribution.
