Creating custom quality index indicators

This page describes how to create custom quality index indicators. Notice that only administrators are allowed to create custom quality index indicators, and no more than 20 custom indicators cannot be created.

In this example scenario, we will create a custom quality index indicator which measures the percentage of assets, whose Miradore client has reported within the last 8 days.

  1. First of all, we need a report builder report which lists the assets or users of interest. So, navigate to the "Operations > Report builder view", and create the report unless you haven't created it already. If you need instructions for creating reports with the report builder, please see How to create reports with report builder.

In the below picture, you can see an example report which lists asset configuration items, whose Miradore client has reported within the last 8 days. Notice that devices whose Miradore client has not reported within this time are excluded from the report.

Example: Report builder report listing assets whose Miradore client has reported within 8 days

  2. When the report is ready, the next step is to create the custom quality index indicator. Do that by following the next steps.

    1. Navigate to "Administration > Feature settings > Quality index settings > Quality index indicators view" and choose "Create..." from the Tasks menu.

    2. Next, configure the settings for the custom quality index indicator. Most importantly, choose the correct report builder report to the "Select report" field. Then use the next field to define what kind of impact the items listed in the report should have on to the calculated quality index. Save the item and make sure that "Enabled = Yes". For further instructions, see the detailed field descriptions from the Quality index indicator item attributes page.

In this example, we choose "Do Not have issues", because the report contains assets that have reported within 8 days, which means that they are OK. On the contrary, this also means that devices which are not included in the report, are not meeting the defined quality index criteria.

  3. Now your custom quality index indicator is ready for use. You can use it in quality index reports at "Administration > Feature settings > Quality index settings > Add/Remove reports". For more instructions, please refer to: Configuring a quality index report.

  4. When you're ready, the final result will look something like the picture below. In this scenario, it seems that there is only one device that hasn't reported to Miradore server during the last 8 days.

Removal of custom quality index indicators

Custom quality index indicators cannot be deactivated or removed if they are used in any quality index reports. This means that, if you want to remove a quality index indicator, you must first remove it from all quality index reports which are using it. You can find the quality index reports from the quality index indicator item's Bindings tab.
