About group distribution lifetime

Distribution lifetime is the time range between scheduled start and end times. After the start time has been reached, Miradore server will add package into target assets' job queue. Target will start package installation if it checks in between start and end times and the other group distribution conditions (allowed time frame and known network) are met at that time.

Clients will check in after the polling interval has passed after their previous check-ins. Because the last check-in times vary between targets by their previous operational history, group distribution will most likely start package installation on different time on each target.

Group distribution will try to install the package only once to a client online and then reports results by target. The installation point will be selected using the normal selection mechanism based on target subnet and location settings.

If retry is not enabled in group distribution it will try to install package only once on each target. In case retry is enabled and package fails, package installation will be retried until defined maximum number of retries is met, group distribution ends or the package installation completes successfully. Retries will follow the same conditions for allowed time frame and known network locations.

Result of each package installation attempt will be returned to Miradore Management Suite server. When group distribution ends targets will report their last package installation results as their distribution status, unless the distribution has been cancelled or aborted, or if the target has not been available during distribution lifetime.
