Hardware category item attributes

Attribute name

Description

Name

The name of the hardware category item. This field is mandatory.

Short name

The short name of the hardware category item. Note! this field can be used as a variable in package building. See, using package variables.

This field is optional.

Type

Depending on the selected type, different fields are shown in asset configuration form. For example, IMEI code is asked for asset configuration items whose hardware category is Phone.

Available types:

• Accessories

• Computer

• Network device

• Other

• Phone

• Printer

Activation required

If activation is required, once an asset configuration item with this hardware category is created, it has a possibility in the tasks menu to send an activation request. This request can be then sent to a email address.

It can be useful if certain type of assets have to be added to a separate framework, like WLAN devices to a access control infrastructure.

Description

You may enter free description of the hardware category. This field is optional.

Attribute name

Description

SNMP scan enabled

Select if assets of this hardware category can be scanned with SNMP scanner. Typically network devices and printers can be scanned.

Values: Yes/No

Average power consumption (W)

Enter here the average power consumption of devices representing this hardware category.

Default value for the average power consumption can be defined in Administration > System settings > Main > Power management > Power management settings.

The average power consumption is used to calculate an estimate for device power costs.
