Miradore software usage metering measures the following usage metrics from the managed devices:
Miradore measures the number of software applications start ups based on the file identification rule defined on the Managed software page. For example, if an application is started 3 times on a computer during a day, then the Startup count for that device for that specific day is 3. Note! Software’s started during the computer startup process are not counted due to the reason that they might be started before the Miradore client is active.
Miradore measures the time a software application has been running on a computer. For example, Application A has been started in the morning at 9:00AM and running all day, and then closed before leaving the office at 17:00PM. The software application was closed during the lunch break (1 hour) and then again restarted. In this case the software usage measures for that specific day are:
Startup time: 2
Running time: 7 hours
Miradore measures the time a software application’s window is on the top (active) on the computer desktop. Typically when a window is active (on the top of the desktop) the software application is being somehow used (read, modify etc). In many cases this is a value in interest. For example, during a working day, user has 10 applications running on the computer. Application A has been started in the morning and running all day, and then closed before leaving the office. The application has been active on the screen in total for 34 minutes during the day (minimized/activated etc multiple times during the day). In this case the software usage measures for that specific day are:
Startup time: 1
Active time: 34 minutes
Running time: 8 hours (time between the application was started in the morning and then closed when leaving the office)
