Weekly maintenance tasks of Miradore

This page is intended to provided assists for IT staff in weekly maintenance of Miradore. The following table describes the recommended maintenance tasks and gives brief instructions for performing them.

Check external backup of Miradore database

Check that the database is backed up to external media.

Fix scheduled backup job on customer specific backup system.

Check status of connectors

Step 1: Navigate to System settings > Connectors > Connectors in the Miradore management console. Check the End time and Result of last run of each connector.

Step 2: Navigate to System settings > Event log > Connectors in the Miradore management console. Enter “failed” as a search phrase to the Result column and look for failed tasks.

Check the logs of the failed connectors and try to fix the connector configuration or installation.

Check status of system tasks

Step 1: Navigate to System settings > System tasks in the Miradore management console. Check the End time and Result of last run of each system task.

Step 2: Navigate to System settings > Event log > System tasks log in the Miradore management console. Enter “failed” as a search phrase to the Result column and look for failed tasks.

Check the logs of failed tasks by clicking the link on the result. If possible, try to fix the problem and run the task manually. Tasks can be manually started from the System task popup which can be opened by clicking the task name link. If the system task fails again, restart Miradore Server Scheduled Task Engine service on the Miradore server or reboot the whole server. If the task still fails, contact Miradore support.

Check up-to-date status of inventory information import

Navigate to Dashboards > Quality: Inventory information up-to-date status. Compare Data updated days ago column with inventory intervals and client online statuses.

Verify the inventory information intervals and rules from the inventory configuration XML-file. The file can be found on the following path at Miradore server: <Miradore_installation_directory>\Tasks\Config\MDSched.xml

Check online statuses of Miradore clients

Navigate to Operations > Software management > Inventory reports > Windows devices > Miradore clients: summary tab and select dimension Online status and assess if the number of clients matches to the current situation.

Check and verify the Miradore client connector service status from the Miradore server.

6.

Check status of Miradore client deployer

Check the scheduled task for Miradore client deployer and the log file from the installation directory of the client deployer.

Reconfigure or reinstall the client deployer.

Notice that this step is not necessary the client deployer is not used.

7.

Check online statuses of installation points

Navigate to Administration > Installation settings > Installation points and check that the online status indicators are green.

Check Miradore client online status. If the client online status is OK, check if the installation point is down/relocated or even removed from use.

8.

Check that installation point replication works

Verify that the replication works.

If Miradore's built-in installation point replication feature is being used in the environment, you can use the Installation points view and use the Tree view to see which installation points have the replication feature enabled. You can also analyze the replication status of some certain installation point by using the reports provided on the particular installation point form.

Fix the replication method.

9.

Check status of SNMP scanners

Navigate to Operations > Asset management > Inventory reports > Network devices OR Operations > Asset management > Inventory reports > Network printing devices > Network printers and open Summary tab and select dimension Online status. Assess if the amount of online devices matches the current situation.

Check the Miradore SNMP Scanner scheduled task from Windows Task Scheduler of all servers where the Miradore SNMP Scanner has been installed. The list of servers can be seen from System settings > Connectors > Connectors > SNMP scanner.

Check also the log file from the SNMP scanner installation directory. If necessary, reconfigure or reinstall the SNMP scanner.

Notice that this step is not necessary if the SNMP scanner is not used.
