Description of Exchange ActiveSync connector settings

This page explains the system settings fields for Exchange ActiveSync connector in Miradore. The settings are located on the end of Connectors tab on the system settings.

System settings for Exchange ActiveSync connector

Attribute name

Description

Enabled

This field defines whether or not Miradore's connector to Microsoft Exchange is enabled or not.

If Exchange ActiveSync connector is disabled, all related inventory reports and functions are hid from the management console of Miradore.

Run on asset

This field defines the computer which is selected responsible for running Exchange ActiveSync connector.

The device must be a Windows-device that has Miradore client (version 3.1.0 or newer) and PowerShell installed. Moreover, the device must have an asset configuration item in Miradore.

By default, Exchange ActiveSync connector is ran according to configured intervals, but with the "Run now" option the connector can be ran immediately when necessary.

EAS connector log is stored on the device where the connector is run. The logs can be found from the following directories:

  • \Program Files\Miradore\Client\Tasks\Inv\EASConnectorManage

  • \Program Files\Miradore\Client\Tasks\Inv\EASConnectorSecurity

Exchange server configuration

Connection method

This field defines the connection method  that the device responsible for running Exchange ActiveSync connector uses to connect to Microsoft Exchange server.

  • Implicit remoting - When this option is selected, the device responsible for running Exchange ActiveSync connector creates an implicit remoting session to the Microsoft Exchange server. Notice that this option requires that the selected device has PowerShell installed.

  • Exchange Management Tools - When this option is selected, the device responsible for running Exchange ActiveSync connector uses Exchange Management Tools to analyze and manage the Microsoft Exchange server. Notice that this option requires that the selected device has the Exchange Management Tools installed. When this connection method is used, it is not mandatory to enter Exchange username and password to the connector settings in Miradore, because Miradore system user account can be used for authentication.

Authentication method

This field defines the method that is used to authenticate the user's credentials.

  • Basic

  • Credssp

  • Digest

  • Kerberos

  • Negotiate

  • NegotiateWithImplicitCredential

Notice that this field only defines the authentication method that is used with implicit remoting -connection method.

Ignore SSL errors

This field defines whether all SSL related errors are ignored or not.

Mail server

This field is used to distinguish the Exchange mail server.

If Connection method = Exchange Management Tools, use a fully qualified domain name to specify the server.

If Connection method = Implicit remoting, use URI to specify the Exchange server.

Exchange user name

This field defines the user account that is used to connect to Microsoft Exchange server. It is recommended to use an account whose password doesn't expire.

Exchange password

This field defines the password for the user account that is used to connect to Microsoft Exchange server.

OU filtering

This field can be used to filter which users' Exchange information is imported to Miradore from Microsoft Exchange server.

The filter must be an LDAP path to existing Active Directory organizational unit (OU).

Inventory polling interval

This field defines, in seconds the interval how often inventory information is gathered to Miradore from the Microsoft Exchange server.
